Observation Notes:

Enormous and complex sunspot group AR1944 put on a great show on the sun today. My son and I were able to view it without magnification using just our eclipse glasses. Through the telescope, it was a mass of large and small spots covering a huge area about the size of Jupiter. Several other spots freckled the surface. In addition to the sketch, I grabbed a few shots through the eyepiece with my iPhone. They managed to show some details for hack photos.

Beautiful sketch!! May have to drag out a solar scope tomorrow.

Thanks Andrew! It's really impressive. I haven't had a chance to do an H-Alpha sketch unfortunately.
